Welcome to AYR Charolais Stud

Overview

The AYR Charolais breeding herd has been developed for over half a century. Our greatest reward is seeing our clients succeed; from winning their local carcase competition, to topping their regional annual weaner sale.
SOLID FOUNDATIONS & GUARANTEED PERFORMANCE
AYR Charolais Bulls are born and bred in Central Queensland, living with ticks and humidity. For over 51 years the Cass Family have produced consistent quality, well muscled bulls with excellent conformation. AYR Genetics have had great success in producing top priced bulls for other stud owners and have an excellent reputation with commercial beef producers.

Bulls are paddock reared in large mobs with no special treatment for individual animals. In preparation for the sale, self-feeders and hay are made available in large paddocks for a few months. Bulls live with horses and are handled with bikes and dogs. The entire Cass family are involved when handling the bulls, both in the yards and the paddocks.

About Us

In 1972 the Cass Family moved their cattle operation from England to Australia and established AYR Charolais Stud using Full French AI over Santa, Angus, Hereford & Shorthorn foundation females.

Semen continues to be imported from France and England today with the family striving to present a range of genetic options and performance traits, enabling clients to enhance and diversify their own breeding program while remaining loyal to AYR Charolais Stud purchasing bulls on a yearly basis.
OUR PASSION IS PRODUCING BULLS WITH PERFORMANCE TO MAKE PROFIT FOR OUR CLIENTS.

Our Cattle

AYR Charolais bulls have sire power, character, smooth shoulders, good toplines and excellent hindquarters, that go on to produce high yielding progeny.

Our females have volume but still remain feminine, are structurally correct, have a quiet temperament, are good milkers with excellent udders, teats and feet. Each cow has to pass a strict assessment each year before going out again with a bull. There is no room for cows that do not perform.

Our herd is constantly challenged being located in Central Queensland. This ensures our females are very resilient producing strong resilient bulls suitable for all regions throughout Australia.
